Just when we think we are gaining our footing, another cultural shift unfolds as we strive to regain our balance. But what is it, exactly? And why are the waves crashing at an increased frequency?
We are now experiencing… Children’s Ministry in a Post‑Christian Culture.

Child Discipleship Drives the Future of the Church
According to The Barna Group, a person’s worldview is primarily shaped by age 13. We tend to talk about the student-church-dropout-rate as if it’s a youth ministry issue. But if a human’s worldview is largely formed by age 13, isn’t this more of a children’s ministry conversation? This is why some children’s ministry leaders have begun asking a strategic question about the future:
Are we adequately preparing today’s kids to engage the culture and lead the church of 2050?
We would greatly appreciate your feedback about the CDS and more importantly, how the experience is shaping your thinking and approach to child discipleship. Please click here to complete a short survey to help shape future events and resources to equip leaders to reach kids with the Gospel and engage them in lifelong discipleship.
Many of you have asked for quotes, resources, and slides from the last two days. We have curated a list of these resources mentioned by CDS speakers in a handy PDF here.
We also gathered Jon Tyson and Matt Markins for a short audio conversation to recap Day One of the CDS and talk through practical takeaways to implement child discipleship in your local church.
Time of Prayer Next Week

Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to such as these.
The Child Discipleship Summit has been organized by Awana. To many in North America, Awana is known as a “mid-week ministry” to children and youth. The reality is that Awana is a leader in global child and youth discipleship in 128 countries in a variety of curricula and leader equipping networks. Awana partners with ministries like Compassion International, World Vision, and numerous denominations in over 65,000 churches (11,400 of them in North America) engaging 4.7 million children and students weekly.
